Making the Long View (London South Bank University)
Abstract
This project will produce an ethically sound and contextualised archived partial dataset from that of an existing
qualitative longitudinal (QL) study, 'Inventing Adulthoods'. It will identify representational methods and multi media
techniques for providing access to the resulting archived resource, to build a community of academic and non-academic
users / re-users. The study offers insight into the lives of young people growing up at the turn of the century, and
has resulted in an advance in prospective QL methodology and biographical and case history approaches. The proposed
study will employ a participatory and collaborative approach involving young people, researchers from the study and
relevant experts from a range of academic and non-academic disciplines in the archiving and representational processes.
A network of potential users of the resource will be facilitated to encourage applications and forms of secondary
analysis / data re-use for a range of purposes: academic, teaching and training, policy.
