QUADS Co-ordination

Potential Impacts

The QUADS scheme is neither designed nor funded to undertake a formalised programme of capacity building, but it is critical to begin to engage with communities to increase the uptake of new ways of thinking and new strategies and tools for archiving and sharing qualitative resources.

Integration with other key centres (e.g. NCeSS), as set out in the research proposal will help to ensure that any 'successful' methods and tools created during the course of the project form part of the NCeSS's' awareness raising strategies.

QUADS Coordination will hold an end of scheme hands-on demonstrators workshop, where projects will be able to talk about their investigations and developments and demonstrate any working QUADS products to an open invitation audience. Furthermore, QUADS Coordination through its web site will mount papers, tools and training materials arising during the course of the projects in an easy-to-navigate manner. At the end of the QUADS project, these materials can be easily incorporated into the web site and outreach activities of ESDS, for the longer term (current round of funding until end 2007 with midterm review in 2006).

We would hope that the efforts proposed in this bid for this Coordination role to seek to help embed the new approaches and tools in the wider social science landscape will have a long-lasting positive effect on the visibility of QUADS findings and innovations.
